The Island Koh Yai Noi

The Islands Tour near KYN

A Little Paradise so close to Phuket!

All you have to do is go to the north of Phuket Island and jump into a boat to a place that takes you right back to another time...

Very few cars on this small island, very few motorcycles, the traffic is very fluid and people who welcome you with a wide smile.

WHAT TO DO IN KOH YAO NOI? Nothing, or not much.

If you are looking for shops, discos, bars like Bangla Road... this is not the right place for you.

On the other hand, if you come to rest, admire the panorama of these nearby islands, stroll along roads with almost no traffic, meet welcoming smiles there, yes, you are in the right place.

The beaches are not as beautiful as in Phuket, but that is why the number of visitors remains very moderate. The best place to swim is certainly PASAI BEACH.

Many motorcycle and bicycle rental points. The island is ideal for safe cycling. And then, you can borrow a kayak, canoe and go to the island which is just opposite: Koh Nok....

 How to get there ?

At the end of the article, you will find a general map of the bay

Plan your trip in Koh Yao Noi

If you want to get to Koh Yao Noi, it couldn't be easier. You can take a boat at a time that suits you from Bang Rong Pier. Once you arrive at Manoh Pier (Koh Yao Noi) you have two options:

  1. You are content to explore the island of Koh Yao Noi. You can easily rent a scooter and get around as you please. Koh Yao Noi is a small island, so it's not too difficult to find your way around. Once you have finished your tour, you return to the pier and head back to Phuket.
  2. You wish to do the tour of the islands: this is a little different as this tour is organised in advance (minimum 2 days before). At this time it is advisable to be quite punctual and to take a boat at a precise time to be at the rendezvous at Manoh Pier.

Explanation :

1 . Simple Island Visit: take your time... you can limit yourself to the day or extend and spend a night or more on Koh Yao Noi. There is enough accommodation. Miss Opal, who is not far from the Manoh Pier, can rent you a scooter and book a room without any problem. You will find her information a bit far.

So for this tour... you arrive when you want and you leave when you want.

2. The Tour of the Islands: contact Miss Opal or Brice 2 or 3 days before your desired date. She will organize this tour for you without any problem by establishing you a quote. Attention, this price will only include the boat trip between the islands. This price will only include the boat, the midday snack with water and fruit available on the boat.
The trip from Phuket to Bang Rong Pier and then from Bang Rong Pier to Koh Yao Noi are not included nor the tax to pay in the national parks.

So for this tour you take the 08:40 boat which brings you to Manoh Pier at 09:10. Return in the evening with the 16:00 boat.

3. Tour of the Islands and Visit to Koh Yao Noi: you can very well plan the tour of the islands on the first day, then spend the evening at Koh Yao Noi and then the next day do the tour of the island of Koh Yao Noi by scooter... your boat to Phuket leaving at 16h00 that leaves you enough time for your discovery. If you don't know Koh Yao Noi and if you have time, this 3rd solution is ideal.

Practical detail:

Doing the island hopping tour on the first day is in my opinion much better than the other way around: when you come back from the island hopping tour, you can extend the day by enjoying the last sun rays of the day and enjoy Leam Had Beach. You are not bound by a schedule.

On the other hand, if you do your tour of the islands in the second day, you will have to be back at a specific time to catch the boat to Phuket.

You will find the full contact details of Miss Opal and Brice below

  Going to Bang Rong Pier

Bang Rong Pier, is located northeast of Phuket, not far from Ao Po.

Wherever you are in Phuket, the taxi driver you contact the day before will know how long it will take to make the trip. He will tell you what time to start.
(Schedules of the boats departing from Bang Rong Pier are below)

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, if you are planning a simple visit to Koh Yao Noi... you don't have to follow a strict schedule: you can go whenever you want.

But the later you leave, the less time you will spend there unless you stay overnight.

On the other hand, if you have planned to go around the islands, your tour is organized and you should know that someone is already waiting for you at Manoh Pier. So you will not have much choice with the batal schedules to do this tour,

The ideal schedule is the boat leaving Bang Rong Pier at 8:40 am and arriving at Manoh Pier at 9:10 am

  At Bang Rong Pier

Once in Bang Rong Pier, just go to the little house and buy your ticket for the trip Bang Rong Pier -> Koh Yao Noi.

Be sure to specify Koh Yao Noi (do not go to Koh Yao Yai). Not long ago, there was only one boat for the two islands, this one stopped for a few minutes at Koh Yao Yai, then joined Koh Yao Noi just opposite. Now, the two islands are two separate boats.

With your ticket in your pocket, all you have to do is wait for the boat to leave.

If you are just planning a day trip to Koh Yao Noi, Miss Opal can possibly welcome you and offer you a scooter. She will also give you a road map of the island to help you find your way around. If you limit yourself to this simple stroll, the boat schedule indicated above is not very important. You are completely free of any schedule and for the return trip, it's up to you...

If you are expected to go around the islands, Miss Opal will welcome you on the quay as soon as you arrive from Phuket to take you to the tour boat... the departure for the tour of the islands will be done in the same time...

 Boat schedules (Go & Back)....

The prices indicated are for one trip

The Longtails Boats...

Above the type of longtail: about 40 people can take place on board.

The Speed-Boats...

Much faster, speed boats bring you to your destination in 35 minutes.

The small agency located about 800 meters from the port

When you arrive from Phuket (or Krabi) and arrive fresh, taxis are there to drop you off wherever you want.

If Miss Opal has not planned to pick you up at the pier, the taxis come to meet you and ask you where you are going.

Just tell them that you are going "to Opal" and the drivers will know where to take you. Since the agency is 800m away, the race will only cost you 20 baht.
